Para Phimosis is cause with following condition or activities:

l  Swelling occurs in foreskin that is left retracted for long duration. It can happen during a medical examination after cleaning it or also after urination.

l  A tight foreskin that gets retracted, which cause the penis to swell. It results with foreskin that is not being able to move back to its neutral position.

l  Vigorous sexual activity, penile piercing and with use of constructing penile ring that enhances erection by compression.  .

Para Phimosis can also result from following medical conditions or procedures:

l  Infection due to various factors that includes poor personal hygeine.

l  Scarring that is cause by repeated infection of foreskin,  or with forced retraction of foreskin in young boys.

l  A circumcision that has not been done correctly.

l  Swelling of penis and foreskin due to insect or spider bite.

Para phimosis in older men is due to one of the following reasons:

l  Diabetes is one of the issues that cause chronic inflammation of penis and foreskin. It adds more chances of Para phimosis.

l  Catherterization that is done without the foreskin that is being return to its natural position.

Children upto the age of 2 years does not retract with their foreskin. Most of the boys have retractable foreskin by the age of 10. It is forcibly pulling of foreskin back before it is ready to do so and cause scarring that can go to cause paraphimosis.

How is Para Phimosis treated?

Pressure is applied to swollen penis for 5-30 minutes, usually with saline swab. Ice may also be in use. These treatments can also compress the swelling, so it is easier to push penis while pulling the foreskin back into place. If the manual manipulation is unsuccessful then a puncture may be require. This treatment also needs some form of local anesthesia or sedation. A needle is use to puncture the foreskin in different places. It allows build up fluid to be release and for the manual manipulation of foreskin over the penis to become easy. More severe cases might require small incision or slit in the foreskin to relieve any restriction.
